Since its foundation in 1972, the Faculty of Music and Arts has maintained active and in pro of academic excellence.  The diffusion of the artistic work in the society of university students of the Faculty of Music and Arts allows the urge of a society more sensitive to culture, which will have a greater capacity to understand its environment and to identify development opportunities.

The quality of the FMA’s academic offer is endorsed by our teaching staff, through their expertise when imparting their professorship, through their research and the recognition by organizations such as the National Research System (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores) the Scenic Creators Program of the FONCA, PRODEP, and PECDA Tamaulipas. Participating as music exponents and artistic education in academic forums and national and international art festivals.

With the goal of offer our teachers and students significant academic experiences it’s been impulsed interinstitutional links with colleges like: Eastern Washington University, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango, Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas, Universidad Veracruzana, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, INAH y CENART; exchanges that have permited increase the quality of teaching and learning process, with the purpose to train professionals with excellent skills.

An important added value for the develop and experiences that favors the teaching-learning process is the broad social impact of our graduates, whom are incorporated in governmental organisms and in private initiative as leaders and with recognition for their professionalism as educators musicians or entrepreneurs in various geographical and cultural regions of the country.

The generation of knowledge demands what we offer as an institution: continuous improvement and quality training for the benefit of society through professionals of music and artistic education.
